    Questions customers ask

    Outdoor Sauna FAQ

How does a garden sauna work?
A garden sauna uses either a wood-fired or electric heater to create a high-temperature space for relaxation, recovery and wellbeing.
    Does it need electricity?
Electric saunas require a suitable power supply. Depending on heater size, this may be single or three phase. Wood-fired saunas offer a more traditional setup without relying on electricity.
    Is it difficult to use?
No — garden saunas are designed to provide a simple, relaxing wellness experience at home.
    Can it be used year-round?
Yes — many customers use outdoor saunas all year round, especially during colder months.
How long does it take to heat up?
Most saunas reach optimal temperature within 30–45 minutes depending on heater type and outdoor conditions.
    What does the warranty cover?
Our warranty covers structural integrity and manufacturing defects, giving you peace of mind with your investment.
    What's included with my sauna?
Every sauna includes the complete structure, premium timber construction, sauna seating, safety glass and your chosen heater option. Exact specifications vary by model and are listed on each product page.
    Can I assemble it myself?
Most saunas arrive as flat-pack kits with detailed instructions suitable for DIY assembly. We can also discuss installation options if preferred.
Should I go wood-fired or electric?
This comes down to personal preference. If your sauna is in a rural setting and you have easy access to timber, a wood-fired sauna offers a traditional experience with minimal running costs and a unique atmosphere. If convenience is your priority, an electric sauna is ideal — simply switch it on, use it and switch it off. Many models can also be upgraded with WiFi controls for even greater convenience.
Can I have any design of sauna I want?
Yes. Whilst we show a wide range of sizes and styles on our website, we cannot display every configuration available. If you require a specific size, layout, colour or feature, contact us and we can discuss a bespoke sauna designed around your requirements.
What is the difference between Spruce and Thermowood?
Scandinavian Spruce is a fantastic sauna timber with a natural appearance and can be finished in a range of colours. Thermowood starts as Spruce but is heat-treated for over 24 hours, reducing moisture content, increasing durability and creating a richer appearance. If budget allows, Thermowood is generally considered the premium option.
Can you pour water on the stones?
Yes. Both wood-fired and electric heaters are designed to be used with sauna stones. Pouring water onto the stones creates steam, increasing humidity and the perceived temperature for a more authentic sauna experience. This traditional process, known as "löyly", helps create the rich heat that sauna enthusiasts love.
